How Kabayan Filipino Center Began

History In the heart of Incheon, a small group of passionate Filipinos came together with one dream: to create a safe and welcoming home for fellow kababayans in Korea. Many OFWs and students faced the challenges of language barriers, homesickness, labor issues, and spiritual loneliness—yet there was no single place that truly addressed these needs in one space.

That dream became a reality when Kabayan Filipino Center (KFC) was officially founded in 2023. What started as a few informal gatherings and volunteer efforts has grown into a thriving hub of services, classes, fellowship, and community support.

From offering free Korean language classes to providing emergency shelter and legal consultations, KFC has become more than just a center—it’s a second home for thousands of Filipinos across Korea.

Grand Launching

History On June 4, 2023, the Kabayan Filipino Center (KFC) was officially launched in Incheon, marking a significant milestone for the Filipino community in South Korea. The event was graced by none other than Her Excellency Ma. Therese De Vega, the Philippine Ambassador to South Korea, along with hundreds of Filipinos from different parts of the country.

The launch celebrated the vision of KFC as a “tahanan ng bawat Pilipino sa Korea”—a one-stop hub offering services such as Korean language classes, legal assistance, emergency shelter, cultural programs, and spiritual support. With heartfelt speeches, cultural performances, and fellowship, the event served as a powerful reminder that unity and compassion can build strong communities even far from home.

Ambassador De Vega expressed her support and admiration for the initiative, highlighting the importance of community centers like KFC in uplifting the lives of overseas Filipinos.

As KFC opens its doors, it stands committed to serving, empowering, and connecting every kababayan in South Korea—with heart, excellence, and unity.

1st Anniversary

1st Anniversary The Kabayan Filipino Center's 1st Anniversary was a day to remember! With heartfelt words from our Guest Speaker, Labor Attache May Valderrama, we reflected on the incredible journey of this past year. In such a short period, KFC has made a lasting impact by offering a wide range of programs, including free Korean classes, translation services, legal assistance, and exciting tours and camps.
Through these services, we've been able to support countless Filipinos, helping them adapt, thrive, and build a strong community here in South Korea. This celebration was not just about the milestones reached, but also about the friendships and connections made along the way. A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey! Here's to many more years of empowering and uplifting our kababayans!
